First Baptist Church of Newalla began as a mission of Immanuel Baptist Church (OKC) on December 15, 1943.  Hollis Morris (then a student at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee) was the mission pastor.  On May 5, 1946, FBCN was formally organized with Rev. Morris as the first pastor.  (Members met for worship in the steeple-topped building that now serves as a Fellowship Hall.)

Over the past seven-and-a-half decades, many things about the church have changed:  its property and buildings; its leadership and ministries; its membership and organization.  But our mission hasn’t changed – because God and the gospel don’t change!  We still seek to exalt Christ, reach sinners with the good news, teach biblical truth, and minister to people of all ages.

We are indeed grateful for those who have labored faithfully and sacrificially in the past to build up this body.  We praise God for what he is doing in and through our congregation right now.  And we humbly pray he will continue to glorify his name in this place until Jesus comes again.  (Will you join us on the journey?)
